Your First Visit

What to Expect

Your first appointment is primarily a consultation—our goal is to understand your symptoms, review your dental and medical history, and determine the best path forward.

1

Check-In and Records Review

Our front office team will verify your insurance information, collect your completed forms, and review any X-rays or referral notes from your general dentist. If you completed your paperwork online, check-in takes just a few minutes.

2

Examination and Imaging

Your endodontist will perform a thorough clinical exam, which may include vitality testing, bite testing, and digital X-rays. When additional detail is needed, we’ll take a CBCT 3D scan—a quick, painless scan that gives us a complete three-dimensional view of your tooth and surrounding anatomy.

3

Diagnosis and Discussion

Dr. Shuster, Dr. Ko, or Dr. Patel will explain what they’ve found, show you the imaging, and recommend a treatment plan. You’ll have time to ask questions and understand your options before any decisions are made.

4

Same-Day Treatment (When Appropriate)

In many cases—especially emergencies—we can begin treatment during your first visit if you’re comfortable proceeding. If the case requires additional planning, we’ll schedule your treatment appointment at a time that works for you.

What to Bring

To help your visit go smoothly, please bring your photo ID, your dental insurance card (if applicable), a list of current medications including dosages, any X-rays or referral notes from your dentist (if not already sent electronically), and your completed new patient forms if you filled them out at home.

If you have dental anxiety, please let us know when you schedule your appointment. We offer sedation options including oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide, and we want to ensure the right option is available for you when you arrive.

Referred by Your Dentist?

Most of our patients are referred by their general dentist, and we work closely with your dentist throughout your treatment. After your appointment, we’ll send a detailed report to your dentist so they can plan your final restoration (usually a crown) and continue your ongoing care.

You don’t need a referral to schedule an appointment with us. If you’re experiencing symptoms and want a specialist evaluation, you’re welcome to call us directly.
